Out to the woodshed.

Out to the woodshed.

Charlie, the kids and I went to a living history museum, Fort Nisqually. The kids got to see what it was like to "go out to the woodshed", which was good since Grampa had been referring to it all week. The boys did a good job posing in their "we're in trouble" poses!

Poor Baby...again

Poor Baby...again

Maggie has managed to get herself into the ER 3 times now. Last night while I was treating Elliott with some prescribed fluoride drops, Maggie apparently snatched the open bottle. As I finished up Elliott, I saw Maggie (who had climbed up behind Elliott) set the bottle of fluoride drops down on the counter. I looked at the bottle and at her. The bottle (it's a very small bottle) was half empty. We've had it a while but I don't know how much was in there when I opened it that night. I didn't think she actually drank much, if any, but 20 minutes later, after we'd put them in bed, she started throwing up all her dinner. This is the first time she'd ever thrown up, so we suspected that maybe she did drink some fluoride. I thought that since she threw up so much that she had gotten rid of any fluoride that she may have ingested. I bathed her while Nathan changed her sheets, and put her back to bed. Then I looked up fluoride poisoning on the internet. We discovered that it would only take a little bit to do a lot of damage, so I called poison control. The guy did some calculations and said that she would have to drink a teaspoon for it to be bad, and did I think she could have drank a teaspoon? I figured that a teaspoon was about a quarter of the bottle, so it's very likely she could have had that much. The guy said to take her into the nearest ER and he'd call ahead and tell them we were coming. So we got Maggie up again and I took her to our nice new hospital that's less than 10 minutes from our door. We got checked in and seen by a doctor in less then 5 minutes after arriving. They decided that since we weren't sure if she'd actually ingested any, and probably since she'd already thrown up everything, that they were just going to test her blood then monitor her for 6 hours. Maggie seemed to enjoy all the attention, except during the blood draw, and decided it would be a good thing to stay awake until after 2pm, telling me, "WAKE UP, MOMMY!" every time I started to close my eyes. We were discharged around 5:30am, and headed home to sleep for a few hours. She's been fine all day, so I'm certain she will remain so.

Day at the lake

We spent an afternoon this week at a local lake with some friends. The kids had a great time splashing around and playing in the boats.
